After swap forgot where power wire go?????
I just swapped a 350 in my 84 firebird and theres a few wires that i forgot where they go i cant figure it out theres the one wire from ther battery and this other wire i thought was a ground the only place the + battery terminal is hooked up to is the alternator. the first pics is what i thought was a ground wire and the others are the missing battery connection i have the ground wire from the battery hooked up to the starter now the starter turns the motor over but i dont think theres any spark. please help me i need this car to run so bad i can as many pics as needed to get a better look.

the big fat one is from the + battery terminal and the one from the alternator is from the same but smaller gauge wire

ok, here is how it is on mine.
ground on battery goes to my block in the front on the passenger side.
hot goes to the starter and to a terminal in front of the battery mounted on the radiator support. From that terminal is a wire that goes to my alt. (the one that goes to the alt. isn't stock.)

A little punctuation would make reading your paragraph so much easier.
In the first picture that you think is the ground, I believe that gets bolted down to the back of one of the heads. I'm not sure on anything else though.

yea sorry my comma doesnt work. i put the + fat battery cable on the block under the alternator bracket and the other wire that you said might go behind the blockdoesnt really reach and im pretty sure it went under the ac bracket. it has a black wire with a white stripe and the other is red or orange but i might go behing the block. yesturday i connected that one under the bolt from the ac compressor and i got a big spark so i thought it needed to go under the bracket touching the intake????? if nothing else i connect it on the back of the block.

DO NOT CONNECT THE POSITIVE (+) WIRE TO THE BLOCK!!!!!
It sparked because it was shorting out. You can't connect positive straight to negative without a load in between. Your positive needs to go to your starter and the negative goes to the block.
