stock lifters ok on a rebuild?

is it ok to reuse the stock hydraulic roller lifters from a 350 on a peformance 383 rebuild? please don't just say no unless you've personally had a bad experience doing so or if you know someone who did. also, id like to hear if anyone has done this with success.

Yes it is possible to reuse the lifters, if they are in good shape and the cam is not too radical.

what are you asking, if it's ok to reuse lifters, or if stock lifters are ok for a preformance application? either way i don't have any personal experience doing it nor do i know anyone that has so i can't answer.

I did a rebuild on my L98 350 then put in the HOT cam with my old rollers. I just had the shop vat clean them and I took each one apart and cleaned all the little parts inside, reassembled and they have been great. Just make sure the rollers are fine, ya know, common sense stuff like that.

Then ther was one where someone had a nitrous sneeze and screwed up a ton... you should narrow that question a bit.

reddevil it appears that lifter broke because of valve float. he was running a miniram and shifting at 7k. my setup is with a superram and will only be revving to about 6200 max. also have stiff valve springs to combat float. im thinking with this setup it should be ok.

Yep and it was to illistrate how others had broken theirs, i.e. don't listen to the guy at the machine shop.
