What's the fuel pressure when it does this?

Check to make sure that when you hit the gas pedal that some gas squirts into the primary bores of the carb. Just take off your air filter to check (or top cover if using stock air box).

It SHOULD squirt gas into the bores when the gas pedal is pressed.

The only thing is, just becuase there is fuel getting squirted into the venturis of the carb, doesn't mean that the pressure is inadequate.

You know for a fact that everyting is is good to go (the standard tune up issues)?

I know, just giving him something simple to check first before he goes out and buys/borrows and hooks up a pressure gauge.

Sounds to me like the secondary air valve is WAY loose, or stuck wide open; or the sec rods have fallen out of the hanger.

Adjust it properly, unstick it, reassemble it correctly
