Car wont start
Ok so today I went through DEQ with the new car and did not pass, so I decided it was time to replace the plugs and plug wires anyways. So I went out and bought some from Schucks. I took all of the plugs and plug wires out, and then I put the new plugs in and connected the new wires.
(As a side note, I also did an oil and filter change)
After I did this the car will crank, and the plug wires are giving spark (had a friend hold plug 1 wire by boot with a ratchet extention in it and had him put it quarter inch from block(freaked him out when I cranked it heheheh).
Someone said I had the timing off since I didnt replace one plug and put in the new ones right afterwards... could it be this? I didnt do anything to the car timing related I didnt think
I have NO idea how to change the timing btw, I do have a timing gun though lmao. Maybe these are the wrong plugs? That is the only thing I can think of. I know we installed the plugs correctly.

No way did you mess up the timing that way. Did you gap the plugs?
I would recheck the firing order first thing, then check to make sure you aren't out of fuel and that you didn't knock any wires off.

My aunt's boyfriend is coming over, he's the one who told me to redo the timing, I'm thinking no way I need to do that since it ran perfectly before I did the plugs. I double checked to make sure that the firing order was correct. I was telling people at work that I was getting a Camaro so they're expecting to see it tommorow, so I need to have it workin before tommorow or they're gunna pull the "
" on me lol.

I have never tried the platinum plugs, but nobody here seems to like them. I'm an old timer who uses what I always have...AC Delco. Funny thing is they were named after Albert Champion of Champion plugs, but I think the Chapions are terrible.
Bottom line is the plugs should at least get the car running even if they are not the best ones for the application.

DON'T let your aunt's boyfriend anywhere NEAR that car!! Good lord, did he tell you taking the cap off changes your timing?!? WTF! You probably just put the wires back on one off or something simple.

Heh, I misunderstood him, what he meant was hook up a timing light to see if there's spark. So what it was, was the distributor cap had all that white junk on it, and the rotor was pretty bad too.
New problem now!! When we started the car, it sounds like it's missing on one cylinder or something. I figured hey it wont be that tough to ride it over to a shop so I can just get this fixed right? So I put it in drive, and the thing just BUCKS like I'm missing on half of the cylinders. When driving I feel it on the right side mostly where the buck is from (cylinders 2,4,6,8).
And when coming from idle, to about 1,000RPM there is a sorta metal-on-metal clanking. The aunt's boyfriend thinks that the flex plate on my AT went out. Or the flywheel broke or something.
Is this even a possibility? I mean, the thing ran like a CHARM before I tried putting these freakin plugs in lmao.
Any help is much appreciated! (and yes, I do have the firing order correct
)
