Ok, I ran a check on my VIN just to see what kind of cool stuff I could find out, and look what came up.

Everything is fine and dandy, except when we get to the "Engine Code", why does it say 1986 when the car is an '85?

(If this is blatantly obvious, don't flame me, I'm new to cars, let alone the whole third gen following. Everyone starts somewhere.)

 

a Z with a 6 in it? I'm no Camaro guy but that doesn't add up to me. IS your car a 6 or is that digit of the VIN totally off?

It's not necessarily a Z28. The line "Carline Series: Sport Coupe, Z28
" means Sport Coupe OR Z28

Where did you get your Vin off the dash or the door.
My trans am has a different vin on the door because the door is not the original one.

Maybe your car was built and sold in 85 as a new 86 model.

The VIN is off the title of the car, so originality to the parts is irrelivant. I don't have the title in front of me (I'm at school) but if I recall correctly it was sold in October of '85. It's a Sport Coupe by the way... The whole thing doesn't matter too much, just wanted to know why it came up like that.

 

I think its just the way the program was written, it means nothing.
