Smokes on start up

Well I picked up a 91 RS with the TBI 305, it runs like a champ but it smokes a little right after you start it. My dad told me its the valve guide seals and I'd need some special tools to replace them. So I was wondering if anybody has had a shop replace their valve guide seals and if it fixed their problem for a reasonable price.

It's blue and I'm sure its the valve guide seals. The car does burn a little oil.

Yea....to keep the valve from falling in. Oh well, see how much it costs to pay a mechanic to do it, then see how much it would cost you to do it (compressor, tool, seals).

Well, I had exactly the same problem. I went ahead and took the heads off, and the culprit is something you will probably never expect. The holes that oil goes through in the heads down to the oil pan were blocked off by sludge and buildup from very bad oil. So the oil actually goes through valve seals and over the piston. I would take the heads off and check it before anything else.
You might be able to fix it for a lot cheaper. Of corse I went ahead and had the heads re-built by NAPA and they updated all the imperfections of the stock ones. Believe me this might be the best way for you to deal with this problem
Good luck
