Fuel Filter?

Where is the fuel filter located on these F-Body's. I checked all over under teh hood and I can't find it. Is it underneath the car?

It should be located under the car on the drivers side between the wheels.

It is under the car just insdie the fram rail. It is right under where the driver seat is located. It is a silver cylindrical can.

A little word of wisdom here if you have never done this before. Remove the gas cap first and leave it off until done and use two wrenches when removing and installing the filter or you will make pretzels out of those fuel lines. Just a thought there!!!!!!!!!!!!

To relieve any pressure that has built up in the tank unless you like sprayers.

Exactly right Trickster. I always take off my cap whenever I work with the fuel system. I've done it without only "once" and I dont like watching fuel shoot out under pressure. Makes a flammable mess!

For me and probably many others it is a force of habit. By leaving the gas cap off it gives the gas fumes another avenue of escape along with any more pressure that might build up in the tank while you are working especially if it is in hot weather.

You will really want to relieve the pressure if you don't want to wear an arm load of gas. You should also, dissable the fuel pump and run the car until it iss out of gas. That makes for an even better install/removal. I am always too lazy and just change it with unpressureinzed fuel in the line and let it catch in a coffee can. Make sure you use two wrenches like Trickster said.
