Speedometer

My speedometer does not work, it just happened,no movement to any mile per hour nothing . I´ve looked at the connexion with
the trans and the kabel is OK in it.
Any ideas about what to look for, is there
any fuse, specific to the speedometer?
Thanks

You have to move first....lol, just kidding.
The sender on your tranny is probably shot, although I've never heard of them going.

'89 did not have electic speedos on Camaros, only after '90 (Firebirds started in '87). Chances are your cable snapped, just unplug the connector behind the speedo and replace.

there is a sort of connection at the Cruise
Control transducer.........

Today i`ve got code 24. Why do I get a code
if the speedo is not electric?
Anybody has any idea if it can be anything
but the cable?
Thanks

All 3rd gens have speed sensors, regardless of eletric or cable speedos. The VSS the guys with ES refer to is supposedly on the trans, but on CS it is behind the speedo guage (should be either blue or yellow square driven with the cable). Check to see that the speedo is properly hooked up to the guage, this will set off the code if not hooked up. If your VSS fail it could also trip the code, but the needle should still indicate the correct speed. If you have cruise control, check all the cable connections. Although one of my '84s doesn't have the old style transducer system (two cruise controls were offered, I have one with the transducer and one that is totally eletrical), your's might and you need to verify this.
