along with everything else, i need to change the engine mounts also, but apparently there are nuts on the underside of the crossmember, so how does one get to those? is it necessary to drop the lower control arms?

yes there are nuts under there and no you dont need to drop that lower arm

all you need is a friend to hold a 15mm swivel socket on a bunch of extension on the nut with the car jacked up from underneath then remove the bolts from the top with an impact or ratchet easy as pie

we did it on ljnowells car when we switched to a v8 from a v6 it only took about 1/2 hour or so to do with two people if you dont have a 15 mm swivel socket then you can do what we did and took an old 15 mm box end wrench and heated it up and bent it to the right angle we needed and used it
