Good ol water pump

Well seems like summer weather around here and I need to replace the water pump. I just wanted to know which is a good brand water pump from Autozone, Napa, or Kragen. Thanks in advance.

Well, I've used the ones from Autozone because they're the closest place to where I live. When money's tight their parts are pretty affordable. Reliability is another issue. I've generally had to replace them every year or so. But since I do the work myself it's no big deal. I use the lifetime warranty ones.

I bought one a while back and it wouldn't fit. It was the proper pump, but it wasn't machined right. There was too much material on one end (the bolts woldn't line up). I took it back and got another one that did fit.

I'll probably step up to an aftermarket one later.

Do yourself a huge favor now and skip these crappy pumps you're thinking about using. They are weak units even when working right, and they don't last for crap.

Go to www.stewartcomponents.com and order one of their pumps. They cool wayyyy better than the stock type pumps and they're made better anyway. You can get the Stage1 pump for around $69. I've been really happy w/ mine and it has helped my car to run a heck of alot cooler than the stocker type pumps were. I was overheating all the time w/ them, not a problem anymore w/ the Stewart pump...

Thanks for all the input guys, I was also looking into the Edelbrocks, but man are they expensive! But what the hell, better to be cool than a cracked block right?

I have to agree with Ray, the Stewart pumps flow way better than stock for a lot less money than the Edelbrock and the like. I'm very happy with my Stewart Stage 1. If you want to save some money, go with Stewart!

Another vote for Stewart, you cannot beat the $69 price for the stage one pumps. Good customer service and prompt delievery.
