Gotta question, need advice here!

OK, this may not really pertain at all to the racing boards but if it doesnt then Mods please move accordingly. Anyways, heres my dilemma:

My buddy at work Greg, had his 87 IROCZ 350TPi auto break down yesterday. Its documented well here and Ive been flamed badly because my LG4 82 t-top couldnt EVER beat a 350 TPi but anyways, Greg told me today he's tired of it and just wants to sell it, for about 500 bucks. Nows, heres its specs:

1987 IROC-Z hardtop black w/red hood, 16 in. aluminum wheels (stcok Z28/IROc wheels I believe), 5.7L TPI with 700R4. The motor never ran worth a ****, of course its a ghetto job of wiring under the hood and he thought putting 7mm wires was a good idea lol. It has a new MAF, plugs, wires, cap, oil, and air filters and it currently doesnt run, something with his injector may be shorting out. The car had a minor "fire" of sorts yesterday that caused the AC wires to get fried but fire supposedly shot out of the side of the motor or something but anywho Id rip the AC and smog out anyways. The exhaust is crap, the cat is clogged and it has the stock muffler on it not to mention an exhaust leak where the manifold meets the head. The interior is decent, needs to be cleaned up. Body is excellent (minus the clear coat is disappearing) except for the right fender is a little messed up but I can get a new one from a Body panel shop for $62, so again no big deal. Other than that the body is good, Red RS/base model hood on it. Positive traction rear end, motor is like high miles I believe, not exactly sure, but it doesnt run and when it did/does it runs like **** but Im willing to get under the hood to make it work. Tranny is allright no problems. Anyways, do you think its worth 500? I mean if I bought it, I might have to dump alot of money into it to get it going good and for all I know it could be a simple fix all the way to a bad motor and needs a motor swap. So, The question is, is the car worth buying and halting all projects body or minor motor on my 82 nd 92? I need an honest opinion here and please no flaming. thanks.

No not yet. We have discussed it and I have a few bills to pay and am finishing the T-top Camaro and getting it on the road/track. However, about the middle of next month, I am purchasing the Camaro for $500. Hopefully If I present a bit less he'll take it, I get the title and the keys to the final piece of my Third Gen Collection

82,87,92.....The Beginning, Middle and End of a Generation.....The Third Generation Camaro

Yeah yea kinda cheesy but I think a professional portait made, of all thrree together with the caption would be pretty cool Guess im a dork but I love my Camaros. Anyways, I may have to get a wiring harness. I do know it has a brand new MAF, tune up, new computer. He kept his old MAF and had it tested and its still good, so Ill have an extra MAF....Always good to have around. So, When I get it, I know Ill be under that hood modding like crazy, a TPI car FINALLY...and an L98 at that!.

Id like either a 69,79,89 and a 99.......................or a 69, 70 1/2, 92, and an 02...Either way itd be cool.

Man come on, to own those 3 years all at the same time would be kind of cool....wish the IROC was Convertible tho lol...all 3 types too anyways, i might be a dork, but Ill have people at the track asking "Dude, didnt you have a teal RS last week?" or "Wasnt your car a T-top last week?" Lol, it would be funny. Guy beats the RS, then next week he has to take on the T-top, and lol if he beat that car then he'd have to take on the IROC.....Try try try again lol, It'd be like an elimination challenge lol.

i always wanted to buy two thirdgens and make them appear identical on the exterior but totally different under the hood and everywhere it counts....lol....i always thought it would be neat to drive around get some of these young kids to mess with me and then tell them i had to go home and adjust the timing and id go out and race em in the country the go switch cars on em ...LOL.....but as everything else money always plays a factor in this and everything..
