blower motor hose

there is a hose about 6 inches long coming off the side of the heater blower motor. Is this supposed to be connected to the male adapter on the housing by the firewall? mine is not attached. what will this affect?

heater blower motor
There are no hoses running to the blower motor, only electricity. Depending on year, and style of engine in your car, it is set up 1 of two different ways. Either there is a hose coming off of the water pump, and one of the intake that both connect at the firewall. The second way has a hose that goes to the radiator (I think it is only one, as I have never owned one set up this way), and another to the waterpump I think. BOth connect at the firewall also, to circulate coolant through the heater core.

There's a little rubber hose that goes from the high pressure generated by the blower, to the back of the motor, right by the brushes, for cooling.

If it's not there, the motor will probably burn up just that much faster.

thanks RB, that would make sense but the hose is on the pass. side and the male part on the firewall is on the pass side of car but on the opposite side that the hose comes from.

Do you have A/C?

If the holes don't line up, you can actually drill new ones, it won't hurt anything.

You probably have the wrong hose, or the wrong blower motor..... some one that's exactly the same as the right one, except different.

Re: blower motor hose

Since we all love bringing threads back after more than nine years of being dead, where can I get this little hose from? I have a feeling this is causing a problem in my car. On hot 90*+ days, my blower will run on high for about 3 minutes before slowing way down to almost nothing. I'd describe it like the blower overheats but have no way of knowing. I have never had this hose on my car and the blower motor is only two years old.

P.S. I searched and found nothing but this old thread.
