Go look at this page.
https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml

Lots of RS's 89-92 had 305 V8's (L03) in fact that's all they had except for the 87's that were only available in california.

Yep, they can have em, but only the base Z28 engine. I think it was stupid to make an RS available with a Z28 engine...nothing against you RS guys, but the Z28 was supposed to be the PERFORMANCE model of the Camaro, having a "Base" model be available with the same engine of the "Performance" model kinda takes the exclusiveness away from the Z28 name.

The only RS Camaro that had all of the Z28 PERFORMANCE options was the B4C Police package. So quityerbichin. lol j/k.... Anyways.......
FYI...the base Firebird (non-Formula and non TA/GTA) was also available with the LO3(305 TBI).

WTF! Man, with a few exceptions, you guys were way off..

88-92 RS's were always available with the LO3 305 TBI engine, and the 2.8-3.1 V6 engine. in 91-92 the 16" Z28 rims were an option on LO3 cars only, so there's a dead givaway for a 91-92 V8 RS.

I don't mention 87 because I'm not sure.

The B4C cars were available with the LB9 305 and the L98, in RS trim.

BTW, I have a V8 RS

As far as I could ever tell, 88 RS was available with L03. Why don't you believe it?

I do believe ALL RS convertibles (at least the 91-92 ones) had 305's and 16 inch wheels standard. Not sure about TPI though

Okay RS came stock with a 2.8 or a 3.1 L motor. You could get the LO3 305 TBI motor and for two years I belive was the stock motor in the Z's. Then in 90 (I think) the Z's came stock with the TPI motor but the RS retained the LO3. Most RS's got the LO3 so its not bull at all. Is it the Z motor yes for a couple years but not in the 90's.

The reason Joel would love to see an '88 RS with the 305 is that in 1988 there were no RS's. The RS nameplate was dropped and the base Camaros were sport coupes. The plates just say Camaro, with no RS emblems or anything.

There were 88 RS's. This has been beat to death.

Yes, the L03 was available in 88 in an RS.

I have an 88 and it's RS badged. It's also a 2.8

I have never seen an 88 RS badged 305 car.

I am not including the 'LT' with 'camaro' on the ground effects as these had 305's.

I was figuring if it ever existed, someone on here owns one or knows someone who owns one. Not picking a mud slinging fight maybe 2 or 3 were made, but I have yet to see one.

RS=V6/305 TBI Option
Z28=305 TPI/350 TPI Option
Of course this is like 89 and up.. before that I am not sure but I know for a fact RS's can come stock with the 305 H.O. TBI
I think the Z's started using TPI's in 85 with only 305's.

This post is one of the funniest things I have ever read. We got one guy saying that the Z came back in 90, when it was actually 91, then we got the guy who originated the post questioning whether a 305 came in the RS or not, and all kinds of misinformation in between.

-NOTE TO NEWBIES!- Do research on the cars before posting misinformation or stupid questions...

Hell, you could look down the Tech board and see several posts pertaining to 305 RS'es. I'm just waiting to hear someone say the LO3 was the high compression, big cam, better head motor avaliable only to the RS'es because the Z's and IROC's got those motors that paled in comparison for power...the TPI motors. ROFL, sorry, I think most of the people that know information about our cars history will be laughing about this post in the days to come.
