fuel pump

My mechanical fuel pump is shot, time to go electeric.

Is a Holley red ok for my car?

where is the best place to intsall it?

what are the 2 lines that went to my old pump along the frame in the engine bay. they were rubber? Im guessing 1 is the inlet but the other I am unsure. I only see 1 inlet and outlet on the red pump, but my mechanical had 2 inlets?

I am assuming i will have to cut those steel lines when I install it?

Its for an 85 z28 with 305 4bbl

First things first, juggalo. Why do you want to go to an electric pump? The mechanical will feed more than enough fuel, and cost less than 15 dollars usually. It doesnt make much sense to spend the money to put an electric pump on your car, when you really dont need it. Buy the mechanical and spend the extra money on something that will actually make your car faster.

dude you are getting F U C K E D!!!!!!! I just bought a mechanical pump brand new at the parts store for 13.99. Where do you live? Do you have an autozone or Advanced Auto, Oreilys Auto, Carquest, anything? If anyone says anything more than 20 dollars for a mechanical pump for a SBC, they are screwing you royal.

I just checked, its 12.99 at autozone for your particular car. Never, ever, ever buy a used mechanical pump anyway.

I live in Canada. I will call Canadian Tire tomorrow and see how much a new one is. I can't see it being that cheap. I've seen some nice mechanical ones at summit for like $50, of course they flow more.

Well, if i go mechanical, i don't have to frig with the lines and such so thats kinda making me agree with you.

You wont have any problem getting it under 20 us dollars, however that converts. Also, a stock SBC mechanical pump will support a 400hp engine, easily. Too many people buy into the "high performance" garbage that magazines and parts catalogs talk.

They probably carry everything from a stock replacement to the top of the line aftermarket.

Then I would order it from an american company, and have it shipped. You can do that, cant you?

well i finnaly got one, at NAPA, $29 Canadian, not too bad eh lol. Anyhow it was easy to put on, but i had to put a new fuel line on from the pump to the carb. That was a pita. The bending tool I have sucks so it took forever and some of the bends aren't perfect so I don't know if it'll be ok or if i should get a new line and start over?

you shouldnt have to its a flared fitting but if it leaks you can always go to the autoparts store and get some thread tape rated for gasoline......
