battery cable ques

I know this sounds stupid, but..
I have to replace my battery cable and was wondering if the TPI cars were different than the TBI cars. It is on a 92 Z TPI. I bought a new GM unit and I think it is for a TBI but GM could have replaced the orig unit with this one. Any ideas?

As long as the cable reaches and bolts up with no problems, it should be fine. It's just a cable.

i just got one at the parts store for 11 bucks, it had a loophole at the starter end, and a side terminal and then a smaller wire with a loophole to go to the lil post near the battery and radiator. it was exactly the same as mine. it said OEM style. its teh same for TPI and TBI. id try that out.

I'm replacing my positive battery cable and starter today too, the one I just got from Super Trak is nothing like the stock one, it's not even long enough The part number is ST65-4R.

Does anybody know the correct guage of the factory one? This one is 4 guage and it's not nearly as big.. plus the factory one has a fuseable link coming off it and has the alternator wire "built in." I just called the dealer and a new positive cable is $84!

Thanks

you probably got the universal one. You need to get the OEM style one...if super trak has one.
