Distributor End Play
I am converting from a TPI to Carbed engine in my 87 Camaro. I removed the computer controlled distributor and have changed the gear on an older rebuilt non computer controlled distributor. When I compared the end play or slop of the non computer controlled distributor to the computer controlled distributor, I noticed that the non computer controlled distributor had a good bit more end play or slop in it. Is this normal and just the difference between the 2 types of distributors, or should the end play for them be the same? If I need to shim the distributor, does anyone know the specs on the amount of allowable end play?
Thanks in advance.

Some end play is normal. Seems like most factory distributors have rather alot, and not consistent at all from any one to any other.
I like to shoot for something in the .015-.020" range.
