85 heads with hyd roller cam...do I need self aligning rockers or non self aligning?

I was reading through some old posts, and came across an old post which made me a bit confused.

I have a set of 416 castings on my motor. These heads are off an 85, and the heads originally had non self aligning rockers. Right now, I have them on my engine with a hydraulic roller cam, and self aligning rockers, along with the stock hyd roller pushrods (don't remember the length right now). Is this fine?

According to what I read, this is a no-no. Do I need to run non self aligning rockers? What would using self aligning ones do to an engine?

if the heads are set up for non SA rockers that's what you need now

Thats not good. The engine has about 30 or 40 minutes of run time right now. Could I have damaged anything by using the wrong rockers? I obviously change them and check the pushrods to make sure they are straight. Anything else I should check?

Can I have hurt anything by running the engine like that?

did you run the NSA rockers w/ guide plates? If so then you might have wear and shards of metal in the oil...

No, I used self aligning rockers without guide plates, on heads that had non self aligning rockers stock. I'm gonna drain my oil and look at it closely, as well as the pushrods.

Could I have done significant damage to anything? Anything I should look at or inspect closely?

Lots of cars had that from the factory. Slotted guids and SA rockers. Its a no-no, but if all the parts look ok then theres probably nothing to worry about. Just get the right rockers for your application.
