Blower on 305?

I have an opportunity to get a underhood blower set up. Either a Paxton or Vortech. Has anybody done this on a TBI 305? What were the results. May be a cheap fast way to a lot of H.P.

Personally, I don't think that would be possible on a TBI car.
Besides, if you are able to run the tubing, will you have enough clearance to close the hood.
If the blower is cheap enough I'd recommend converting to TPI, that is what I am in the process of doing. I'll be adding a blower in a year or two, it all depends on cash flow.

By "blower" you do mean like a turbo huh? Sorry, when I think "blower", I think big ole' super charger sticking out of the hood. I'm pretty sure you can run a turbo setup with TBI but you'll probably have to be innovative. I don't think you would have enough room with the stock hood either.

go for it. I know paxton used to make a bolt on supercharger for TBI F-bodies.

They still do....saw it in a magazine....cost was pretty expensive, but the install looked straight forward. I think you need a hood with more clearance though

You don't have to convert to TPI, it's not going to halp much considering the Lo3 is the problem, not the intake system! The peanut cam isn't going to make much power and that is the only reason TBI gets a bad name. Anyways, you will need a TBI/carb "bonnet". It's a cap basically. If you can get the S/C cheap, go for it, you won't be sorry. Just don't run too much boast (4-5) because the Lo3 has 9.5:1 compression and cast pistons.

Thanks for help. 86 is right is is a Paxton kit for tbi. I should be able to get fo about 1/3 the new price. If anybody has experience with one I'd like to know what problems you ran into and how big a power gain you got. the old articles I could find talk of gains in the 75hp to 100hp range w/no other mods. We'll see maybe!

As a follow up Paxton and Vortech are called centrifigal superchargers. The type your used to seeing are "roots" type superchargers. This are the big "GMC" truck type blowers modifies for auto use.
