HERE"S A WIERD one

well i was so excited i got my new 350 in ...my mechanic told me to take it real easy for she has allot of compresion and needs to be broken in nicely. no i ddid as he said im gonna take her real smooth for aboutthe first 2000 miles. on my way home she did fine , for our test drive she did fine..i parked her cul de sac necause she said she might leak a little while the new seals seat a little...so ok.....well later that evening i tell my wife...hey lets take the t/a to put some more miles on so she breaks in good. on our way thier she is cold so i turn the heater on. no heat, wierd i think i had the heat and air fixed with the new motor as well?? so we continue trying to mess with the heater about 12 miles on our way to wally world.. ticking noises emerge from my engine bay subtle at first then getting louder. so loud my wife says your car sound like poop. well she lookd behind me and says ..hey your smoking...i sure was..i look in fron yeah i sure was we were a large ball of white smi going down the road.... she finnally stalled. and i tried to turn her over one or twice and the would turn just wasnt fireing, by the time my mech showed up with his tow truck and brought us back to the shop it was around 9 hey did a quickie diagnosis and thought maybe it was the fuel fump.... since she was turning and not firing. well when i got home i noticed a large amount of oil sitting in the drive way.. and not to mention a little peice of rubber hose about 3 inches long that seemed to be plugged up with something and was also didnt seemed like it was tighted onto the car on one end?????? wierd huh...now were just waiting for monday to see what the new diagnosis is gonna be after i show up to the mech shop withthe rubber hose....any one have any clue what it could have been???????

Cant give you a definate on the rubber hose, but if you are sending white smoke out, you are burning coolant. Look for headgasket, intake gasket, etc. Same for the oil on the ground. You definately have some major issues, and if all your mechanic could say was "fuel pump" I would be looking for a different mechanic. Check the oil. If it looks like a milkshake, call the mechanic and tell him he has some work to do.

well if you have an oil cooler on there, $20 says that rubber hose came from there... look where your oil filter is - there should be 2 lines. well, now only one...

Did you check your oil?

If it looks like whitish goo, I.E. Milkshake, then the mechanic has ALOT more work to do as you have coolant in your oil, and its probably eating away at the bearings as we speak.

NO IT WAS JUST AN EVERY DAY OVER HEATING PROBLEM , THIER WAS A HOSE THAT GOES ON THE RADIATOR THAT WASNT ATTACHED ALL THE WAY THAT FELL OFF DUE TO PRESSURE, CAUSING ALL THE ANTIFREEZE TO COME CAUSING IT TO OVER HEAT

It may be just a normal overheating problem, but if it got so bad that the car would not run you most likely have other problems. I would have to say that at the very least you will have warped heads. Maybe you will get luck, but if it got so hot that it shut off and would not start, there has to be some damage.

This is not an everyday overheating issue, your motor is now really hurt., atleast its feelings are.

If you were pumping white smoke out the pipes, it wasnt just overheating. Was the "smoke" coming from under the hood, or out the exhaust??

I had that happen once and the motor seized from heat. After 3 hours it was cool enough to start. It was fine for 6 months when i tore it apart for upgrades, compression was fine and there was no visible cylinder scoring. This was a 350 btw.

Maybe you got lucky.

it wasnt oil in the drive way, it was antifreeze with additive they had put in thier, it should be a lucky but he is double cheking every thing tonight so it should be ok i hope.......he suggested the same problem where the engine got so hot that it just wouldnt start but it was full oil today, my dad told me of a situation where he had put chrome rings in his boat once that the only way to completly break the motor in was to over heat it because botes run so cool, it would never break in...may be i just sped up my break in process ..who knows ..or maybe i broke it i hope not, we'll see
