Mine ran like crap when the est was connected.

EST us usually found right near the brake booster, behind one relay on my TA.

BTW, is this a 305 to 350 swap? Did you change the knock sensor and module?

So, what is the static timing with the EST wire connector pull apart?

If it runs bad with the EST wire disconnected, then maybe, the static timing is retarded.

Disconnect the EST wire and turn the distributor (counterclockwise) until the idle gets better, check the static timing. The factory setting is 6* (I think). Maybe the engine will run better with 8* static timing.

i advanced it to about 10 degrees (static) and it is running a hell of a lot better. it still has a little sputter in the lower rpms, but hardly any, think it could handle anymore advance?

if its starting to feel better, then try a little more. Do you have an AFR gauge, would help a little ?
