I'm no expert, but I don't think you need a new fuel pump just yet. Not holding pressure? could be a number of things.

It could be the pressure regulator or one or more of your injectors is leaking...

no its my pump. theres a check vavle in the pump which allows the fuel line to the tbi to hold pressure for a while after motor is turned off. when i turn it off, pressure immediatly drops to 0.

You don't have to change the pump just because of that. There are a good number of guys (on the TBI board at least) that have the same problem, but the pump still works fine, other than that. How do I know?, because mine does the exact same thing, but it works fine. Since you have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up, what's your fuel pressure at while the engine's running? Should be 9-13 PSI.

no, my car drives horrible. while under acceleration, the pressure can make dramatic drops and increases causing my motor to surge, and have little to no power. when i floor it, it does move and the pressure drops to nearly 3 psi. at idle it fluctuates between 4 and 10 psi.

fuel pumps pretty much immediately DIE, they don't gradually give out.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me. But, have you checked your fuel pressure regulator at all? It's located on the back of the TBI unit and is gold-colored. Sometimes the diapraghm (spelling?) can tear, but I can't remember the symptoms of a bad FPR.

Just curious, but if you've made up your mind and want no contradictory input, why post?

Ah. My bad, forgot the question by the time I finished reading.

How much is in it? I've dropped them when they were more than half full. I siphoned 'em when they were down. Easier if you have a helper.

my computer farted. no its cool. my tank is topped off, the problem is i am working on an incline, i would just drop the tank full with a couple jacks, but im positive my tank will roll to the road. so i would like to empty it, that way i can just lower with the help of a friend. i geuss siphoning is the only, not to thrilled about it however.... never done it ether, how do i siphon it?

If you are on that much of an incline, I wouldn't even jack the car up. If it's safe for the car, it's safe for the tank.

Put hose in, hold hose above fluid level, fill hose with fuel (make sure part of the hose is below the top level of the fluid so you don't just fill the tank ), tip into container so the hose end is below the bottom of the fluid level and sit back and relax. No smoking though.

And if I typed that coherently enough, I need another beer.

well my driveway levels out for the location of the jack stands, but the tank is over the incline...so no sucking and filling my mouth with gas?

With the ignition off apply 12volts to the ALDL diagnostic connector terminal "G" to power the pump. I use a hand held remote starter switch, hook one side of the switch to 12volts the other to the "G" terminal, pull the trigger and hold. Stop when the flow starts to sputter because you can't get all the gas out, but more than syphoning.
