You should be able to see with the block off plate removed... If it is a stock thirdgen cam, it will have the mechanical fuel pump lobe..

well it isn't a stock thirdgen cam. the engine is a reman. i bought it about 2 years ago. at that time i wasn't planning on having to change the engine into another car or switching to carb. when i get the engine out i will look to see if it has the lobe i guess.

They didn't start getting rid of the fuel pump lobe until later model engines... can't remember when, searching might reveal something..

well if it don't have one i'll figure something out to get fuel to it. I don't really want to run and electric pump but if i have to i will. I can't stand the noist that aftermarket pumps make. I guess if all else fails i will get a better cam and make sure it has one on it. thanks for the help.

Just stick something up there like a wooden dowel and push it up until you hit the cam. Use a starter interrupt switch or have a friend bump it over. If you feel the dowel move, you have a FP eccentric. If you don't feel it move, you don't have an eccentric.

And you can't hear the pump if you have a good exhaust.

and what is that. i have heard of it before but my car has never seen it before. my exhaust consists of a y pipe and that is it. the car never seemed to like having exhaust. put a few systems on it and it just keeps saying no i don't want them.

Something that is louder than your FP.
