Custom PROMs
Custom PROMs
I'm not sure if this is the right board to post this on, but does anyone know of any shops in central New Jersey that burn custom PROMs?

Yep, it has some rust on the driver's side quarter panel. It needs a new oil pump too, the current one leaks about a quart every 3 weeks or so.
It does have a brand new A/C in it, and the rest of the engine runs smooth. Just needs some body work =P. I have new headlight/parking light bezels and a rear spoiler for it as well. $700 takes it.
Anyone know about the proms?

I don't know anyone in central Jersey who does PROM's, but if you find someone let me know. I live in Bridgewater and go to school in Trenton.

Your wasting your time and money. Burn your own eproms. No eprom writer can make you a custom eprom (for a reasonable price) that will work optimally with your engine combo.
For a "reasonably priced" eprom, you are only going to get a "formula" eprom based on a combo that worked reasonably well on someone that had a similar setup to you in the past. This is NOT the way to get an eprom. Every engine is DIFFERENT, based on its condition and wear. Only if you burn your own eprom will you get an optimum eprom for your setup.
PLUS, you can look at invoking Highway Mode which can save you enough gas in 1 year to pay for ALL the equipment.
Go to the DIY PROM board and read Tim's (Traxion) article on burning your own eproms. It is not hard to do, it just involves spending a little time in reading and research. If you want the "lazy man's" solution...you will get a "lazy man's" problem.

I would love to burn my own, but I have nowhere near the time, nor the money. Plus the IROC is my daily driver, and the other 2 cars are used by other family members.
Unfortunately, its just not an option.

I would love to learn also, but have nobody to teach me. I'm fine when it comes to mechanical work, but electricity and electronics are not my friends!!! Can you explain Highway Mode to me??

The time is a couple of weekends of reading. The money is under couple of hundred dollars...the price of an "off-the-shelf" eprom.
Highway Mode is where we lean the engine from 14.7:1 to something like 16:1. With a functioning EGR this is no problem as it dilutes the mixture and makes it less volatile. I actually run 17.2-17.6:1 (depending on load) and I have had no problems in the 6 months that I have been running it. I will give a long term review in another 6 months as I would not recommend going as lean as I have unless you KNOW your engine is in good condition. One weak fuel injector...and you could toast a piston. But 16:1 is fine.
