How much work was done to the heads (specifically do you know the airflow)? What kind of shape is the shortblock? How much gear do you have and how much stall? Next question is, how much gear and stall are you willing to run.

You'll shift between 6400 and 6600 rpm with a 218/228 cam with heads flowing 235 - 255 cfm (less rpm with less flow). You'll need around a 3000 stall with a 218/228 cam,,, plus or minus a little more stall depending on your gear ratio. I wouldn't want to run an engine even that high unless I knew the bottom end was sound.

my heads are stock...http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/41598/index4.html scroll down 1/3 of the way, and mine are the alum. l98 heads...i will be getting new valvetrain to match the cam tho....but the port sizes will still be stock....i have 3.73's in my rearend and i'm getting either a 2400 or 2800 rpm stall or bigger if i need it....my shortblock is brand new...brand new pistons, new crank, new eveyrthing, it was a low mileage motor to start with, but i had some computer problems and it was so outta whack that the timing caused some pistons to crack....the only bad thing is that its a 2 bolt main, but all i want outta it is about 300-350 rwhp...can you help me out with what cam i can use to get the most outta my heads without porting..?

where did you find this cam? http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...50&prmenbr=361 those are all the computer controlled ones jegs has, and none of them look like they match...also from what i heard, those computer controlled cams aren't worth it because they aren't much improvement over a stock cam, because they are designed to work with your stock chip and computer....like i said before i want something that pull all the power i can outta my stock port alum. L98 heads...

Seems to be a more aggressive cam than you were considering.. This cam is much bigger than the stock cam and has a 112LSA to allow for easier tuning and more vaccum for your brakes.

08-306-8
Competition Cams Computer-Controlled Camshafts
Camshaft, Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 290/ 307, Lift .510/ .540, LSA 112, Chevy Small Block

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...ults=false&N=0

The numbers on the LT4 HOT Cam with 1.6 rockers are duration 218/228, .525/.525 lift, 112LSA. Compared to the CC08-306-8 cam with 1.6 rockers 230/245 duration .540/.576 lift 112 lsa

Of course you are having machine work done to the heads and install new springs to allow for more lift right??? And your going to need a pretty good rear end gear close to 4:1 and about a 2800-3200 stall.

you might want to look into the comp 276hr....seems it would be a good match, slightly smaller than the 282.

i sent holley a big long email, still no reply ...but should i just go with the one from summit you guys showed me? like i said the heads will be matched to accept any kind of lift i wanna run and whatnot...but if i got this cam, new valvetrain, 2800 stall and a beefed up trans along with 3.73's and some sticky street tires, anybody got an estimate on what I will be running in the quarter? any Hp estimates? sorry for all the questions, but i really have to rely on your guys to help me out with cams, because duration amd lobe seperation makes no sense to me, the only number I see that makes sense is lift...so thanks for helpin me out everyone..
