Trouble Code help again !!!!!!!

Well I am getting closer....I am using a Auto X-ray and I am getting a code 42 Ignition timing monitor ( ican't find that problem)
I am also getting a code 34 Map too low
and code 33 map too high this was a scan from about 50mph in high gear.

How can I get both codes??

Hey Brian, I saw your post on TBI and thought maybe this would help.

My Haynes manual says that code 33-MAP could be:
1-leaking vacuum lines.
2-poor elec. connection.
3-open or a short in the circuit.
4-defective ECM.

Let's hope it's not the ECM.

Code 42-EST:
1- #2 above.
2- #3 above.
3- bad ignition module (I know you just replaced it, so have AutoZone test it to make sure it's not bad.)
4- #4 above.

Hope this helps.

AJ

Well is it 44 or 42 damn it?

Code 44-Lean Exhaust.
1- bad injector
2- vacuum leak
3- low fuel pressure
4- bad connection, open or short circuit (I would assume at the O2 sensor or MAP sensor)
5- bad MAP sensor (duh )
6- bad O2 sensor (duh )
7- (and again) bad ECM

Sounds like a vacuum leak. That would explain both codes. A vacuum leak is really just allowing the pressure to become too high in the intake manifold. An intake manifold still has pressure, just not as high as atmospheric pressure. (Tas taught me that ) And a leak would also allow too much air in which would cause a higher than 14.7:1 A/F ratio.

I really hope you can find the prob without breaking the bank.

I think he typo'ed the "44".

Brian, two things that are in common with MAP codes and code 42...the CTS.

Monitor the CTS for any irregularities (sudden up or down swings).

This has to be monitored throught the ECM...NOT the dash gauge...different sensor.

Thanks all who have helped. I am sorry for the typo on the 44. I do know the map too low is my falt I pulled the vac line to get a vac reading so I guess its just high. The CTS is normal with around 185* I have a 160 stat and fan switch.

Here is the vitals: Remember this was cruising at 51 MPH with the car warm.

IAC 68 steps
Map 1.70
engine RPM 1625
Throttle sensor .98 volts
o2 sensor 660 mvolts
Knock sensor 8

Brian,

You should have no knock at cruise, first I'd investigate that.

Are you getting knock counts at idle as well?

I'm assuming you didn't gun the motor up to 51 mph, then cruise it? And that the knocks came at cruise?
