Will this bottom end handle this combo?
After some debate, I've decided to rebuild and beef up my motor. This is what I'm looking at for a bottom end
-'79 4 bolt main 350 .060 over Align honed, 0 decked, and all the fixins'
-Stock Crank, Stock rods with arp bolts, Flat top forged speed pro pistons.
-Balanced Rotating assembly.
Eventually I want to put this trick flow top-end kit on it, or make equal power. Trick Flow top end
edit: that url only gets you to summit racing. The part number is TFS-K314-490-440
490hp 440 ft lbs
Thanks

P/N TFS-K314-500-450. I would use this on your short block and have fun. But remember what you have before you go bracket racing every friday with it. For the street I would do it. For racing/nitrous abuse I would do the whole forged crank and upgraded rods. You do have forged pistons. Thats a plus! Good luck!

alright, actually i was looking at the 490 hp kit, but there would be no nitrous invovled anywhere
I know a member on here is pushing his 383 pretty hard on stock rods and crank. Enough to get the 3400lb car into the 10's anyways.

Power in itself does not kill the bottom end.
Detonation, spark scatter, exessive rpm, loss of oil flow will.
Get a rev limiter and use the required octane fuel and don;t worry about it.

well I have a 350... so doesn't really apply to me to much. I've already spun it out to 6000 on 150+ passes down the track, and it accidentilly saw 6500 once. All is still good. When the trick flow kit goes in I plan to spin it to 6800 or so probably.
Better not tell that part about 5000 rpms to IHI
I know he drives that car a ton, and it seems to survive quite well.
