Pulled more codes... 24 & 43 - Can somebody help with these?
Hey guys,
I pulled two more codes. Code 24 VSS Circuit, I am assuming this means my VSS is fried or disconected, right? (My speedo doesn't work)
Code 43 Detonation (Knock) sensor circuit... Please oh please don't tell me this means my engine developed a knock
What does this code mean, is it just that the knock sensor is fried? (hopefully)
BTW IS there a trouble code for the oil pressure being low, or the sending unit being broken?
Thanks, I would really apprecieate q quick knowledgeabe response.

MS7,
If the speedo isn't working and the 24 DTC is set, you should check the VSS, VSS drive gear, and connector at the VSS. Depending on the year of your car, you might still have a speedometer cable and should check that as well. In that case the VSS is mounted at the back of the speedometer and is likely not faulty since it and the speedo head rely on the speedometer cable for signal. HINT: Is the odometer working?
The 43 DTC means you may have a base timing problem, excessive carbon buildup, and ESC/EST problem, or poor quality fuel. What fuel are you using? What is the base timing? When did you last check the plugs?
Low oil pressure is often accompanied by a telltale noise from the lifters/rockers. Verify the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge temprarily connected to the sensor port. If the dash gauge doesn't agree with the mechanical gauge, replace the gauge sending unit or check the dash instrument (usually it's the sender).

Thanks for the help Vader,
I have the lectronic speedo with the VSS on the tranny, checked the connection and it works so then I need to replace the VSS?
As for the second problem, I am running 93 or 94 Sunoco Octane. I didn't check the plugs since I got the car, coudl fouled plugs be casuing this? The timing is stock for a 86 305 TPI and I didn't touch it so that shouldn't be a problem.
I also already solved the oil pressure problem, it was the sending unit which I replaced today. Are these sending units supposed to tighten all the way cause mine didn't and now oil is leaking onto the block from somewhere (the sending unit connection I guess)
