Oil Dip stick w/headers

I am amazed that I have assembled a whole motor and car for that fact together and I find my self at a loss trying to figure out the oil dip stick relocate. I put headers on my Z and now my dip stick will not locate in the same location. I tried to bend the one I had that broke Now I am on my second one. The headers block the usual path of the stick and I am no even close to bolting it down to its natural location. I know this qustion is really stupid but I could use some suggestions other than tack welding it to the headers as has been suggested to me.

There are no stupid questions just stupid people who ask stupid questions.

I took one of those small pipe benders and gently "caressed" mine out to the point to where it could bolt up to the header bolt. What brand of dipsticks are you using?

I have air tubes on my headers and there is not enough room to fit the tube in between not to mention thats how I broke the other one. I used a pipe bender and tried to make the bends and it broke (cheap crap) I know I am not reinventing the wheel here, there has to be a simple answer.

Yea, my SLP's had the AIR tubes as well. But, if yours are like mine, as I suspect they are, the AIR tubes are more above the headers, more or less.

Never heard of Mr. Muscle before, perhaps a Mr. Gasket? MRG-6238 is the one that looks to be pretty correct as far as overall shape is concerned.

Check your e-mail.

yeah maybe it is mr. gasket and I was thinking of my self If I was using my stock manifolds it would bolt right up. I could not use the two nut bolts that were on my old exhaust where the tube use to bolt up because of a clearance issue. The bolts would not fit in behind the headers. The air tubes make me have to put in a lot more bend in the tube than I want.

I have a right side dip stick not that it matters

Restore, What brand of headers are you using? Also, were they new, or used, and did they come with instructions?

I'll asume its the stock peice that has the attachment on the exh manifold.

You need to find a dipstick/tube that bolts below the exh manifold like what came stock on most 82+ trucks, Ive seen a few TPI 3rdgens with this configuration as well.

The typical chrome replacement dipstick is made for driver's side location. Yes, it does make a difference, because they don't go into the block in the same fashion.

Get one made for passenger side mounting.

Edelbrock uses a cheezy clamp that bolts around the header tube and holds the tube for the dipstick. If you got a tube and dipstick for a 89 TPI and their cheezy clamp, your should be good to go.
