How can we put a car on a trailer?

How can we put a car on a trailer?
I might be purchasing a project car and was wondering how could I get it onto the trailer. It doesn't run. We could always push it up onto the trailer but these cars are freaking heavy. Is there any place I could use a winch to help or anything like that?

A winch would be the best way, I've used come-alongs before, but what a workout and a PIA.
Word of caution form the "been there, done that" squad....if you plan on rolling the car down a hill onto the trailor, make sure the brakes work first. Don't ask me why, just trust me

If you use anything with a hook, don't stick 'em in the holes in the subframe. Don't ask how I know that.
When my fuel pump went south, I had to use a hill to get it on a trailer.
To add to 8Mike9's warning about the brakes, also make sure that the vehicle that the trailer is attached to has IT's brakes on.

Okay. I probably could use a winch, but where could I attach it to without messing anything up? And the closest hill around this car is like 50 miles away. The brakes do work too. You can get the full scoop on the TBI board.
I'd like to know the answer to that question too.
On my '91 Z28, there are two pieces of metal (~1/8" thick) that extend down with an oblong hole. They are located at the outer sides immediately in front of the sway bar, flush with the inner side of the wheel well. It looks like these were intended to secure the vehicle when being transported, but wonder if they can also be used to pull it. I don't think it'd be good to tow it there though.
Does anyone know where the tow points are on a third-generation F-body?

Best place is around the K-member, under the engine. You could hang the car off a cliff by that part, it's the closest thing to a frame these cars have. If you do it that way, be careful of the steering and exhaust. Next best place to winch it from would be the control arms.
Make sure you've got it tied securely down... I was involved in a situation once where a car was backed onto a trailer, and tied with rope; the tow car had to stand on the brakes; when that happened, the rope broke, and the trailered car ended up on the trunk lid of the tow car, with the bumper on the trunk lid and the wheels dangling.
Just a little less restraint from the rope before it broke and it might have rolled over the trunk and crushed the occupants of the other car.

You can pull under crossmember under the engine, just be careful and keep an eye on the cable, it may want to come in contact with the plastic nose piece, you'll end up slicing it through if you're not careful...uh, and don't ask me how I know that either...
I'd go with friends and beer approach. Not only will it get done, but you'll have a good time doing it. It's also the most economical as far as I can tell. Good places to tie down are chains over the axle, and then use nylon straps with ratchets to pull the car down. Load the car to the front of the trailer so it rolls to put tension on the chains. Plus you want enough tong weight on the trailer that it doesn't bounce and get the rear of the truck light. Then pull down really hard on the straps in the front. It should be tight enough that the suspension actually starts to compress. That way you know it won't bounce off the trailer.

Don't be a sissy just get about 5 or 6 friends together and make sure none of the brakes are stuck. Even little wimpy guys can move one of these cars if you get enough and you do not need a whole lot. Just be sure the car is held down really well on the trailer. NEVER USE ROPE!! The only rope I would trust would be about the thickness of your wrist. Go invest in some good nylon strapping and chain pull that baby down tight. After you drive about 100ft you will probably need to check everything again.
