Full tank, or empty??
I usually try to time my gas tank filling so that when I go to the track, it is pretty much empty. By doing this, I am essentially saving about 100 lbs. My 60' times have been in the 2.15-2.18 area pretty consistantly, but last weekend, I had a completely full tank when I went to the track, and my 60' times droped to a 2.08. My 1/4 stayed roughly the same, 14.12 before, and 14.15 w/full tank, with roughly ly the same conditions; mid 90's, 7500 - 8000' corrected elevation both times. So my question is, how do you guys run your cars? full or empty?
I try to run no more then 1/4 tank - to save weight but more gas can give better traction if you need some.

I was wondering the same thing! I hook 5 times better with alot of gas. But I didn't know if it would affect my MPH..I know it affects handling..but who cares in a straight line! I can do a small burn out and LAUNCH with a full tank compared to doing a huge burnout and grinding second with empty.

Good, I'm glad someone else has had the same experience, but does anyone know the answere? It seems to me like if it turns out to be 6's, then you might be better off using an empty tank, as it would be les stress on your parts. But MAN, I sure have to tip-toe out of the hole w/ the empty tank. If I launch above 1200 RPM (roll-on throttle style) my tires go up in smoke. So, anyone one know for sure which is teh best route?

Unfortunetly, there is no right answer. You guys pretty much explained it yourselves. Gas weighs about 8lbs. a gallon. By filling the tank, you are adding 80lbs. @ 10 gal. That will help with the traction. However, that same weight will reduce your 1/4 mile times enough to make up for the gain of the times with better traction. That's why your e.t. stayed the same.
Confusing enough? I hope so.

I was taught in science class in school that gasoline was 8lbs./gal. But that was 12 years ago when leaded gas was still around. Unleaded is more than likely lighter. There, are you happy now?

And to be even more accurate, I believe unleaded is about 6.2Ibs, but who cares AGAIN, right?

Move your battery to the trunk. Not only are you getting better traction from the weight, your front end will lift quicker and plant the tires harder + the car will handle more balanced in the twisties.
And I second the LCA's and pinion angle at -4 degrees.
