Ok, I had e-mailed Dirk a while back about this but never got a response so I dont know what that means.

Question is...

May I please make one post that is non-tech regarding a gathering/cruise to Lake Tahoe? When I e-mailed Dirk like I mentioned I asked if there was any way to work out a way that we can "advertise" here for our gatherings since so many more people than the ones that visit our non-tech sites come here. And many of them might not even be aware of the other sites. Anwyay, I believe there are probably many people that would be interested in gatherings and the sort but will never know about them because they only know of or stick to this site and not any others.

Now I am not trying to break the rules about non-tech discussion on this site, I know how that goes, just trying to bend them a little to help us all out and make things better for everyone. And I dont feel that one post that gets the word out about a gathering will hurt this site. I dont intend to hold discussion about the gathering here on thirdgen but just get the word out and continue discussion on nethirdgen.org or 3rdgen.org.

Timmy should consider coming to our gathering. I's not really any farther than Tahoe for you and is going to be about the same time. Look at the Cascade Crew section for more info.

 

since i do most of the locking here i'll give you my views on the subject. if i lock a thread it's still there for peopel to read and i believe a locked thread gets a lot of readers. as we all know this is a tech only site, but a little non tech is good and on some of the forums it isn't a problem, but the general tech gets a lot of traffic and has to be controled a little more than some others. personally i don't care if you post about your gathering. ask dirk and he may set you up a gathering forum. post a link in your sig and answer a lot of threads and it'll get seen that way too.
