Does anyone know what size they are?.....

3/8 16 thread like ede said....but I think they are 1 1/4 inches long.

I just got back from the store buying a 3/8 16 bolt......3/8 is to big......

I hate to tell you man, but all SBC and BBC bell housing bolts are 3/8-16.

Are you sure we are talking about the same bolts...

I have 2 400 blocks in my garage right now...trust me, they are 3/8.

i just replaced a couple of bellhousing to block bolts doing a tranny swap on a 77 camaro and they were 3/8 16. and thats what ive heard, they are the same for ALL SBC and BBC motors.

Yep- 3/8", 16 threads/inch. Just dropped a 1975-vintage 400 small block in my bother's 87 GTA and reused the stock 1987 trans/engine bolts so I know they're the same between 1975 and 1987 at least.

We all know how well organized the bolt bins are at most hardware stores. Maybe he grabbed a 7/16 or metric bolt out of the 3/8 bin.

Nope, didn't pick up the wrong size....it was my fault, the holes were not chased and so the bolts would not go in past the first thread. Sorry, and yes you guys are correct, 3/8 16 is what they are....
