Which Roller Rockers for my car?
OK--need some help. I have done several searches and read a couple hundred posts/threads until I can't see straight anymore. (then read a few more)
For my car (see mods below PLEASE) 89 L-98, what are my choices for self aligning steel full roller rockers. (NOT just roller tips!) I know it is better to use guide plates and will when I rebuild the engine later down the road, I will
I know Comp Cam makes some--any others?
Does Crane make SA steel rollers?
I was told that there might be a valve cover clearance problem?
Need to use different length pushrods?
Is there anything that I need to be aware of?
I have also been wondering about using 1:6 ratio, but have been told that my car/engine will not run as good because they will flow more than the heads are capable of and the turbulance will actually slow it down?
Can some of U experts straighten me out and educate me
Thanks
Craig

1989 L98 350/700 R4-- TPIS mini-ram --ZZ9 cam/--Hooker/Flowmaster--MSD --Custom prom-- --ATI converter/--4.10 posi--Glasstek 4"cowl induction hood
These are the mods to which you allude? What are the heads that this mini-ram sits atop? With all the other pertinant things listed I'd hope either heavily modded ones or something like a set of AFRs. And why a zz9 cam mated to it?

comp would be the way to go, and i think the only steel ones you'll find. if you don't change ratio you won't have to change push rod length, even if you do it's doubtful you will, but as always best to dummy a pair up and check.

Heads are the OEM iron heads-port/polish/CC (see updated mods in sig below.
The ZZ-9 cam was already in the engine when I bought the car. Please educate me about the ZZ-9 cam. What is it that prompted the comment. Is this a good/bad choice of cam?
In another, I posted that I have been convinced by a fellow local TGO member to go with the Comp Cam 1.52 Pro Mag steel Rollers, and would have to agree (based on further research and reading). Have been told and read that the heads I have would not handle the additional air flow because of turbulance and would slow down the engine/car. As well, even though I have some Comp Cam springs, (installed by previous owner) I do not know which ones they are, and not sure if they would handle the extra lift.
One issue, I am concerned about is clearance with these RR's. Have been told and read that with the OEM center bolt Valve covers, will have to modify them to clear the RR's?

The comp cam pro magnum rockers are very nice. The stock valve covers wont clear roller rockers. Ive seen some people mod their stock ones but i would prefer to just buy some aftermarket tall valve covers. If i was u i would stick with 1.5's or the comp 1.52's. You dont need the 1.6's. If u decide to add screw in studs and guideplates later then u will need to change to non SA rockers. If u buy a set of roller rockers now it will be a direct bolt in, other than the valve covers u wont have to change anything.

Yeah, I think that's what I have deceided to do--the 1.52's.
Already have ARP screw in studs.
I know I can modify the OEM valve covers (as it was described to me in another thread) or get some aftermarket ones.
Anyone know of a good quality brand and/or source for some after market VC's? I'm sure I could find some by looking around or doing a search on the TGO board, but if somebody has some experiance with some, it would be good to hear about them!

I thought U still had to use the self aligning unless U had guide plates?
