Been a few years, but there are two small hex head screws holding the ECM in, remove'em, and l;et the ecm slide down, then you'll hav eto remove the connectors on the ecm.
Then there's two more hex head screws holding a plate down on the ecm, remove them and you'll have access to the chip...unsure if your's is a "piggyback" or replacement. You'll need something to pry the old chip out. Kinda like a "L" shaped device....pry up on the ends of the chip, not on the sides where the pins/legs are.
Note the orientation of the chip, should be a mark somewheer on one of the corners to denote "pin 1"...you want to put the new one in the same way.
Just be careful on installing it, make sure you insert it straight and don't bend the legs.
Ofcourse you'll disconnect power to the ecm before doing anything.
Hope this helps ya some.

okay...i got the battery out, so theres no power...but your instructions sound pretty good, the chip, i think, is a total replacement chip... it was custom burnt by pcmforless...if i get some ambition i'll try and throw it in tonight but otherwise i'll play with it tomorrow night..

I hope I don't make it sound more complicated then it is, should only take 10 minutes..or less.
Hardest part is getting upside down on the passenger side to get the screws out

Just curious, is it the large wide memcal, about 3" wide, or is it an eeprom, which is just a chip about an inch wide with a bunch of legs hanging down.
If it is the memcal, then you just pull your old one out and put the new one in and it will only go in one way since there is a slot guide on the connector in the ecm.
If it is an eeprom, then you need an adaptor.
here is a pic of my modified memcal with an eeprom socket on it,

Pretty much.
Take out the old memcal, slide it onto the adaptor, insert eeprom onto adaptor, place entire unit into the ecm.
You may have to take the ECM cover completely off since it sometimes doesn't fit into the slot on the top of the ecm.

i got it today, and it looks the same as my chip, just my chip has a little square thing on it like 3/4" x 1/2" that says SST on it...but the main thing itself both says memory adapter on it...is it possible that PCMforless just gave me a memory adapter too..if so am i all set? i thought what i was ordering was that blue plastic stuff in the picture...do i need that??

Do you have a camera?
The pic I posted was a modified memcal unit, normally, the light blue cover goes all the way across the unit, I had it cut in half and had the stock prom cut out of the memcal and all the pins unsoldered and then put that dark blue socket adaptor in place of the prom, then I just put my burned proms into the dark blue adaptor.
The Moates adaptor I gave you the info for is so that you don't have to do anything to your stock memcal, just attach it to the Moates adaptor and then put the new prom into the socket on the Moates adaptor.
I don't have any prom parts handy to take pics of, my left over parts are installed in my formula right now.
Take a look here to see what everything should look like and how everything should be installed,

Ok,
It seems you ordered another adaptor. If I had pictures of just an eeprom or if you had a picture of what you already had, I wouldn't have had you order that.
I'll tell you what, I'll buy that adaptor from you since it was partially my fault for having you order it.
PM me the total and I'll send out a money order to you on Tuesday.
The chip with SST is the eeprom, which I thought is the only thing you had.
