Gas in Oil

I recently built my engine. Went from 305 to 350 and TBI to Carb. Well it spun the #'s 3 and 5 ROD Bearings and screwed the crank up . The engine had no oil press. and when I got the oil drained it was like water, but smelled like gas bad. What would cause that? Had a manuel pump pullin through the elec. The elec pump was unhooked. Any replys would be great.

Did you use a mechanical pump? I've had instances when the diaphram ruptured and gas spurted into the crankcase.

You'd have to take the pump apart to know...but it's the only other way for fuel to get inside the carnkscase, othet than the carb.

I get what ur sayn on the fuel pump. I really dont think that is what it is. I checked the carb and then my dad took a look at it. Floats where fine and so was the needle.

ONly other thing that you can't see is maybe the fuel pump you used is a higher pressure rating than the carb can take? In that case the [pump can push the fuel through, and over come the needle seat in the carb.

My last guesss

Thanks man. Im going to get the fuel pump and see if I can find out what type of fuel press it is suppost to create. The carb is a Holley 600. It possible is the carb. Ill make double sure before I put it back together. Hotrodn isnt cheap and I dont have a fat wallet.

A Holley shoud be good to 6-8PSI, I know I ran an E-Brock and was told that it would only hold the float seat to 5-7PSI...can't verify for a fact because I ran what I was told, but just food for thought if you're running a high performance pump.

Good luck, there aren't that many holes for the fuel to flow through
