Anyways, those are pictures of the number 2 rod on my forged 327 rotating assemby. On only that main there is a little notch in it, that is machined. The rod main cap has "80C" on it. What is it and is it suppose to be there?

The notch is an oil spit hole, to lube the piston pin on the opposite bank by squirting a shot of oil at it as the oill feed passage to that rod passes under it as the crank spins.

No not really. All rods had it up until some year, then they dropped it. No large journal (69-up) motors had it, only the early small-journal motors (like 65 or so on back). All it means at this point is that you have a random bunch of rods rather than a set.

Sweet looking rods, now those I can work with.

Is it a large journal 327? All the LG 327's I have do not have the oil holes, and I have a bunch of them. Muhhaaaaaaaaa

Schweeeet!

Most likely, he loaded some different images to the hosting server with the same name. The post IS a couple years old.

Still, "machining" those might be a good idea. What kind of coolant would be best to use?
