Federal-Mogul used to sell cast flat-tops with 2 or 4 valve reliefs under the Sterling brand name, should still be out there. Keith Black may sell them also.

Summit carries KB, Speed Pro, and Sterling/Federal Mogal. From basic cast to hypers. Northern Auto parts also carries some: http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...?ProductId=705

Why set your sights that low? It's the cam that makes an L69 an L69, and there are aftermarket grinds available that are better than the L69 cam.

dont wanna go crazy just want a good running 305 is all

350 cam and flat tops would be plenty, with soem stall in the th350 and the 3/.42 axle it wil be plenty enough fun for a stock t/a, and wityh stock exhaust and such too, it will never be a prostreet or anything like that, hehe
just want a good daily driver is all
ill end up getting a cam from summit catalog most likely, a summit cam or whatever, need a grind thats a close to a decent 350 as possible, i dunno the numbers or anything

who does ?

thanks

Summit cams are cheap, properly chosen Comp/Crane/Lunati/etc. cams make decent running engines. "Decent 350 cam" means absolutely nothing.

L69 compression is good, stock LG4 exhaust is horrible. You'd see more gains from exhaust upgrades than from a compression increase.

If you want best improvement for $'s spent, go with exhaust & cam upgrades. Flattop pistons would be a waste of money.

I think that this article proves this out. Note: this is done with dish pistons.

http://www.naparts.com/ They had the L69 flattops at .030 over for mine. I also got a Crane Compucam 2040 that woke it up even further along with the headers.

But I agree exhaust is always the best place to start with these cars. Best bang for the buck.
