Corvette Starter?

Corvette Starter?
I would like to replace my stock starter with an offset gear reduction type. I was looking at using a Corvette starter. I'm pretty sure it's possible.
What is the difference between the '88-'91 Vette starter #10455702 (now discontinued) and the '92-'96 #10455709 one? Both are Denso motors. Are just the terminal connections different?
Would I need to purchase different bolts to install a Corvette starter?
Would it be easier to use the type of starter that was found on the LT1 F-bodies?
Why does Sallee Chevrolet say that Pre-LT1 SBC's need some modification to the starter? Check midway down this page, Sallee Chevrolet GM & GMPP starters.

Why not go with a Lester Electrical PN# 6449-a permanent magnet
gear reduction starter? Small, effecient, lightwieght and you can
buy them at any good parts store. You'll want Dorman bolts PN#
678-107 to mount it.

A Lester 6449 uses the staggered bolt pattern. I thought I needed a straight bolt pattern starter.

For the straight across pattern, a Lester #6470 will work.

I've used a 1995 LT1 F-Body starter with success. The only modification needed is to undo one of the positive cable mount brackets to get a little more cable length because of the new position of the solenoid (its smaller)...

I'm glad this thread was eventually help to someone.
Both the LT1 and the LT4 Corvettes used the 10455709 starter.
I ended up buying an old stock 10455702 to install in the future. Right now, I am fixing my power antenna.
From some research, it appears that only the shorter bolt needs to be changed to a 1.87" from stock for my application.
Yes M. Hall, a Lester #6470 is the same starter that was used in the LT1 F-bodies and B-Bodies.
Both the LT1 and the LT4 Corvettes used the 10455709 starter.

I use the LT4 starter. It works great. You can probably pick up a denso starter elsewhere. It'll work the same with some adjustability and probably be cheaper too. That's what I'm going to do if my LT4 starter kicks the bucket. It still runs strong, and cranks fast.
