replacing everything

im basically doing an engine swap, but im doing like everything else, so just hear me out, maybe one of you smart people can help me out. there is a tube that looks like its going to a cannister in the engine bay (front drivers side) that seems to be comming from the brake peddle, what is that? do i need that? also the speedo cable, where does that go? stupid question maybe but i had cruise and i dont want it anymore, and i need to know if i need to get a new cable, or just re rout the one from tranny? thanks guys!

If the tube is coming from the brake pedal area, I would guess it is for the cruise. I'm not sure how the cruise works on an 83, so I can't really comment on the speedo cable issue.

Yes, it cuts the cruise when you tap the brake.

If you want to take the cruise govenor out, you'll need a non-cruise speedo cable from the tranny up to the speedo, or a cable from a later car with ECM-controlled cruise that had the cable go directly from tranny to speedo (not sure when that started, but I know '86 had it).
