Key stuck in Ignition

Today I was backing out of my garage to work on my car, all was well, then I to take my key out and it was stuck. Then I thought the stearing was locked, took it out for a spin and it was fine, stoped the car but it was still stuck. Tried playing with it but it won't come out. It will turn off and on but won't turn to the LOCK position and won't come out.

Any help will do just fine, and if you have any questions just ask.

you need a new lock cylinder i imagine, like $13 at autozone, you will need a lockplate depressor and steering wheel puller both of which are availible in loan-a-tool at autozone and most any other place that has a similar program,

If you can't turn it to the lock position then it could be several things. There is a cable that goes to the tranny that prevents the steering from locking when the car is in gear. Cable coulld be stretched or worn or any thing else related to it. There are a bunch of linkage parts in the column too dealing with that. Ir could be the key cyl tho I doubt it.

Try pulling the shift lever from park to netural at the same time you are trying to turn back the key. Might give you a few hints as to what is wrong.

I have a worn key cyl and can also remove the key with the car running.

yea, make sure your shifter button has pushed itself back outwards, or else the car thinks it's still in gear... (had this problem a few weeks ago...)
and of course, wiggle your steering wheel, make sure it's locked in place, etc...
Then go further..

I fixed it today, took a screwdriver and poped it out. It seems to work fine now, but I'm going to go buy a new cylinder for it.

Thanks for all your replies!
