what can this combo net me
ok i know this is asked alot. but here we go.
engine
1979 350 4bolt .40 over
Vortec Heads
Flat-top pistons 9.25:1 or so
xe262h cam
Edelbrock RPM performer intake
600cfm edelbrock carb(i might change)
goin through hooker 2055 headers and 3" exhaust
and a t56 for the trans.
its goin into a v6 car, thats gonna get the necessary suspension upgrades( springs, swaybars, shocks.)
any idea on power or estimated 1/4 mile?
i know the cam could be better but i want something that will have a good idle and be streetable.

ok i found the dyno sheet on comp cams for the cam. Its really close to my engine specs but it has Dart S/R heads, are these alot better or about the same as vortec heads? and it has a Performer intake, not the RPM like me.
the engine made 348hp@5300 and 415tq@3700. I tried looking for flow charts for the Dart S/R's, but all i found was world product heads.

It will make 350+ hp pretty easily with the supporting exhaust, good tune with the carb, etc.
Car Craft did a mild buildup on the Vortec headed 350 HO crate motor, it's pretty similar to what you'll have. They got it up around 375hp with the XE262, but didn't specificially give the output (because it was not a significant improvement over the crate motors stock cam numbers of 371hp, they jumped up to the XE268 and still only gained around 7hp, to 377... (they have some little mistakes for the numbers in the article, the dyno graph has the correct numbers, 377hp with the XE268 )
Note that that is on a engine dyno with a great tune and long tube headers, so you could probably expect the as installed in the car with emissions headers and such numbers to be slightly lower, which is why I say 350+hp pretty easily. They made 400hp with the HOTcam and 1.6s BTW (roller cam, stocker was standard flat tappet as were the XE cams but the HO crate motor is setup to accept a roller cam easily I believe).
Here's the article: http://www.carcraft.com/projectbuild...ail/index.html
I had a Vortec 350 with the XE262 and it was pretty nice, ran nice and strong and was very streetable. Do yourself a favor and get the Vortecs clearanced for more lift/better valve springs before you build the engine (or get pre-modded Vortecs), that way you'll be set to either run 1.6 rockers now or in the future, probably be good for another 10-15 hp and peace of mind since the stock valve springs aren't really up to snuff. I was always wishing I had done that with mine, was planning to do the work at some point but the car got totalled...

No, but you'll get 13's easily IMO, how low into them is debatable. I pulled on several stock LS1 cars on the street with mine and it pulled a heck of alot harder than my new 94 LT1 car does. It would have bitchslapped my new Z28 which should be a low 14sec car so...
(I think low/mid 13s at a good track with a good launch and decent gearing is a no brainer for a setup like you're planning if all is working properly...)
