Custom Ram Air completed.
I don't know if anyone remembers, but I decided to go ahead and make a high beam delete ram air setup for my Camaro. Until I get my hands on a L69 dual snorkel air cleaner setup, the single snorkel one that came with the L03 is going to have to suffice. I removed that heat plate thing inside the snorkel, used AC ducting and routed the pipe to the driver's side high beam (which I don't use, since I have high wattage xenon low beams). I kind of..ehh.. "cut" the high beam casing, gutted it basically, and routed the ducting to it. Using heavy duty tape I put a fine screen over the gutted casting (can't see it, looks awesome) and voila, ram air. I have to take pictures and scan them at my friend's house...so you can see it. Looks cool, I think...would be better with two snorkels, but I have enough materials left over so I'll look for one...
On to performance....
DAMN! From open element to this it's like NIGHT AND DAY! There was a DEFINITE seat of the pants difference....I gotta say, this is AWESOME. I wouldn't be surprised if I cut 2, maybe 3 tenths off my ET with this...once I hit 50 MPH the pull was incredible. Bah, anyways, you should all try this...it's not that hard.

FYI The breather from a caprice cop car has a 1" taller lid and filter with a 4" hose connection that will work well with the various automotive hoses. You can also find these type of breathers on various pickups and older chevys. I have tried 1 and 2 hoses and can tell no differance with only one even with a 350. On a 305 you don't need 2 no matter what came on the L69. Look under the hood of a newer LT1 or Ls1. Only 1 3.5 to 4" hose feeding it. But two will not hurt any thing, just extra clutter.

Just curions, couldn't you wire a high/low beam single headlight in the one spot? I'm not sure if anyone makes a high/low single headlight that size but it would be great.
I think a good looking screen in the old opening is the key to good looks.
