Valve cover leak

Hi guys, I have an 86 IROC w/ the perimeter bolt design stock valve covers. Well oil traces are coming out of all of the bolt areas on the covers and I was wondering if I need new gaskets or something? Is this common? I am not losing any great amount of oil between changes but I just want to fix it for appearance purposes. What are the torque specs? Thanks!!!

If you're lazy, you can try to just tighten all the bolts (in case one or two is loose). Otherwise, just replace the gaskets (may as well do em both at the same time). Gaskets are cheap. You'll have to do it sooner or later and if you're careful and keep the mating surface clean, you probably won't ever have to worry about any oil leaking again.

You can find the torque specs in the Haynes manual - I don't know them off hand. The valve cover bolts are ones I'd actually pay close attention to the torques - overtorque and you can strip threads (speaking from experience here... not fun to do the whole helicoil bs), undertorque and oil leaks...

I think they get torqued to 30 lbs.Fix it as soon as possible, you dont wanna get any oil on the freshly polished runners.
Oh yeah have you taken any pictures yet?
