Hi!

this morning I've noticed a small leak of coolant from under the dash (passager side). It looked green-yellow, very oily. These days I've used the heater and a/c. Any ideea how I can fix that?
Thanks

its not too bad price wise and a little of a bitch to swap, you have to pull the heater box off the firewall and swap it.

You have to move the center console back and take apart half the dash to get to it. You can't access it from the firewall. It's a real pain. Expect to spend all day on it.

It costs about $40. Word of advice. Take out the old one and go to the store to match it exactly. Both Vader and I, have had the same problem, they looked up the part # and we both got home to install it, but the pipes were at a slightly different angle. I tried to bend them slightly but it wouldn't work. I took the old one back with me and none of the ones at Trak Auto and went to the local store, they had the right one. And on my car, all I had to do was remove a black panel under the pass. dash. I didn't have to touch anything else. Took 30-45 mins.

I just did mine a couple weeks ago (only to find out the old core was not the problem).

I had heard lots of horror stories about the swap, but it's not all that bad. Unless your time is really valuable, don't pay a shop $500 for all the labor (esp. since the core is only $40!), it's not that compliacted. Just take your time, take the seats out to make it easier to get to everything, then take apart everythingin the front of your interior until you can wiggle the core out of its plastic box... good luck. The work took me about 7 hours total; you could go faster by keeping good track of all the screws and pieces you remove because putting it all back together takes a little longer if you don't...

you don't have to remove the dash... the tricky thing is getting to one of the srews at the top... using a mirror and the right length og 1/4 in drive extentions does it every time... you may have one extra screw left over when your done though ...

Thanks for the useful advice!
When I keep the vent/heat off, the heater valve keeps the coolant from reaching the heater core, so I'm safe for now. Later in the winter I'm gonna replace the speakers also so I'm still gonna take out the top of the dash... this is gonna make things a lot easier!
Thanks again
