Will stroking my engine change where it redlines?

 

All other things being equal, a stroker will have the torque more biased toward the lower end of the curve than a std stroke engine. But a cam change can correct that if you want to shift the curve toward the top.

 

Just be aware that stroking a motor increses piston speed which means you may have to lower the redline to avoid piston meltdown.

 

The cam plays a big role in where you redline, so even a joe blow 350 can redline at 3k or 8k RPM

 

The redline and the powerband are two entirely diffent things. The redline is the maximum safe rpm for a motor. Any higher and you risk engine damage. The powerband is where the motor makes its best power. Which can be influenced many factors. But Streetiron85 is correct about the powerband.

 

Heads, cam and intake choices will make more of a difference.

 

I will be running World S/R torquer heads, turbo city tbi, dual plane manifold, headers, 3" exhaust, comp cam (350 tpi cam, suggested by comp cams), roller rockers, etc..

 

are you wanting to stroke the 350 or the 305?

 

It's the LO3 305. I've already been through the hole 350/305
thing. I am going to play with the 305.
