Mini starter for the street?
Mini starter for the street?
Got a 1.4 KW from Tommy Johnson's. Will this starter live on the street? I had a friend tell me today that it won't hold up to street use. This car isn't a daily driver.

It'll hold up fine, your friend is a dumbass. These things are designed to spin big cube engines with a ton of compression, they oughta be just fine for starting your avg.,streetable engine.

It's basicly a gear reduction Nipendenzo with an adaptor made to fit a SBC. I dont know about you but I see more domestic starter failures then ND failures.

I was going to say that, werent they just a regular joe blow starter motor with a gear reduction.
I wouldnt see any reason why it wouldnt work, i would think it would even last longer as it takes alot of strain off the starter motor.

I need a mini starter to clear my huge header tubes. I currently use one of these.

I originally was using one similar to this. It was a cheap offshore brand. It did the job for a while but finally was having problems cranking the engine over.

yeah, I'm using one from a 1995 LT1, works great with more clearance and less weight to lift up when installing it..
