Saw something on TV.. What do you guys think?

Ok i was jus watchin a TV show bout 4x4 driving.. anyways.. they were showing these "tough trucks" goin across wide open ice flats... anyways.. they had alot of .. i guess u would call it tire separations.... where the tire lost all inflation and was basically jus wrapped around the rim.. since they were in the middle of nowhere they came up with a quick idea to fix it.

They sprayed lighter fluid in and round the rim and tire... and lit a match... and the tire instantly inflated. Im not asking if it works.. cus i saw it... but wat i was wondering.. if this is a somewhat safe and slightly reliable quick fix ... if there is a situation where the tire loses all inflation and separated from the rim...

i dont think its too much of a common occurince for normal conditions.. but for hypothetical reasons...

any ideas on how many psi this could produce?.. and significant damage... if for no other reason i figure i would pass this on if its a somewhat reasonable option.

and i know its obviously dangerous to a point

This does not inflate the tire,it only seals the bead of the tire so you can put air in it. That trick has been around for years and works real good on big truck tires that are a pain in the a$$ to get the bead to seal on.

weve done that before with the off road jeep (brother and mines shared toy) to put it simply its a very BAD idea...yes it can set the tire back on the rim...it doesnt really inflate it...if you screw up you will be in some MAJOR pain...large tires can make very quick exits and they dont tend to slow down for little humans...btw if your feelin risky use carb cleaner...it works better...uh dont do it...its better to use the spare

I've seen guys mount larger tires that way, blew a 33 12 50 on a steel 16x10 rim right off the tire machine and just about broke his leg....lol

I wouldnt advise it, but it works in a pinch.

As stated above, it just seats the tire bead.
