Condensation

I popped my hood today and I noticed a lot of condensation in the engine. I have a pic that follows. I know this is bad for the engine I'm just wondering how bad (I figure electronics mostly but I didnt wanna post this there) and would a car cover (I would use a bed sheet because I really don't have any money) counter this?

clean that motor..

Clean That Motor... also check your thermostat it looks like it is leaking. All water is bad for a car, but they get wet there whole lives. wouldent worry bout it. Only thing that would help is puting it in a garage.

Just how close to the ocean ARE you? A little engine bay cleaning and sealing may help, but a bit of heat in the garage may help keep the moisture out of there completely. The condenstaion isn't helping the structure or the concrete either. A cover won't help. You need ventilation and some way to drive the moisture out of the building.

We have a storage bay in our garage where all the air from the dishwasher and stuff come from. It's a source of heat but its pretty far away, but it kinda heats the whole garage. Do u think if I opened a window (theres one next to the passenger door in my garage) it would help?

All that air is probably the source of all the humidity as well. You'd be better off storing the car outside in that case - After it has been cleaned and protected. I can't imagine what the body looks like.

I degreased the engine, but I didnt wanna get too clost to the spark plugs so a lot of the waste around those are still pretty bad, i might just do that part again tommorrow and just use degreaser on a toothbrush and then use water and scrub on another toothbrush.

clothes dryer

Do you have a washer and drier in the garage, if the clothes drier is venting its waist hot air into the garage it will spike the humidity to well over 100%, and any metal will cool the water vapor and it will condense like crazy. The Camry is mostly plastic and plastic doesn’t condense water vapor as well. Plastic has a lower ability to transfer heat and condense the water. It will condense water, just not as dramatically as bare aluminum.

or is the garage new? it takes a lot longer for concrete to cure fully than ppl expect. I have seen it take up to 5 months to dry out if a structure was built on it two quickly. The structure traps the moisture. Also try opening a window during the day, and closing it before you go to sleep, it may help reducing the moisture in the air. If all else fails, dehumidifier.
