ZZ4 Vs. Performer - Check this pic!
Word is the ZZ4 is better. How much better can it be? It look almost identical to my 2101 performer (aside from the ugly egr on the ZZ4, which I don't need. Check this pick of both. They look like twins.

What's the word on the street?
Thanks,

I'm willing to bet, on any given streetable small block, you couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Measure the depth of the plenums and compare, then measure the port exits.
If they are in fact identical, the one with the bowtie cast on it will be faster

There is a small hole drilled in each side of the plenum on the ZZ4. You can see the one on the left side in the pic. There is one on the right side also. What's that about.

Slight differences. If you had an EGR perfromer it would be real interesting to compare the two.
You wont notcie any difference in power between the two. The ZZ4 is a great peice for upgrading a stock intake but its nothing too special as you can see compared to a cheaper edelbrock intake.

The beauty of the ZZ4 intake is the mis-guided people who will buy a ZZ4, yank them off(before coolant even hits them), slap a performer on there, put the ZZ3/4 on Ebay and believe they have accomplished something. Then most people won't even look at them becuase it is a stock GM piece. Makes for a CHEAP find on Ebay or a Swap meet. I paid $20.00 for one at a swap meet!!!!

I find it quite strange the ZZ4 intake has EGR passages in it, considering the ZZ4 heads are the exact same as the Corvette aluminum L98 heads, which do not have EGR passages.

They did, when required.
How about a pic of both from the bottom (to see the routing), and front (to see the comparitive heights)? And the aforementioned plenum depth measurement.
You can see the cross-over passage of the Performer sticks into the plenum a lot more than the ZZ does.

Sorry. Shipped the ZZ4 back to Summit this morning. After getting the other opinions, I decided they were just too similar for me to justify the cost. Plus I would have had to come up with a blank for the EGR. Easier and cheaper to stay with my performer.
Thanks for the info guys. You helped me make the decision.

There's no doubt they are similar parts. The ZZ4 manifold carb mount is about 1/2" taller than the stock 305 aluminum manifold, that much I know.
If you don't need EGR, and your thermostat housing doesn't leak (
), then I agree, it doesn't make much sense for you to change from the Performer to the ZZ4.
Now, had you ordered an RPM manifold...
