Loud BANG on Acceleration

Hey I have a 1989 Camaro. before I replaced my suspension, when I would floor it, my car would make a very loud banging noise. It sounds like something is hitting the underside of my car with a hammer when I floor it. However, if i launch the car just right I don't hear it anyway. My friend says that I need to replace my bump stops and that it's not affecting my performace too much. In case it matters, I've replaced the shocks, struts, and lowering springs and it still does this......What is this?.....and how hard is it to correct? Is it a dramatic performace bottleneck?

Check for a broken trans mount. Also check to see if the driveshaft is whacking the floorboard.

My guess is broken trans. mount too. I test drove a Maustang that did the same thing and that was the problem.

Yup, trans mount. Its a $5 fix. Your friend dosnt know what hes talking about. The noise you hear is the transmission tailshaft and/or torque arm hitting the transmission tunnel. Nothing to do with bumpstops.

Once a buddy told me his camaro was making a loud bang. I knew what it was since I;ve done the mount like 3 times on mine, but to get him going I told him he cracked the case on his tranny
